Whether the recent agreement holds together or not, the Camp David meeting is a further step in Washington’s strategy of inserting tensions, instability and continuing provocations in the region in an attempt to block China’s development and its growing regional trade with its neighbors. Washington is attempting to distract from the economic decline of the U.S. by asserting its military dominance in the Pacific.
U.S. corporations are the main beneficiaries of a policy that obstructs Japan’s and South Korea’s trade with China. China’s huge economy is a major market for their products, thus aiding the economies of its two neighbors. According to the Wilson Center, China is the top trading partner of more than 120 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines and Australia. U.S. corporate interests are consumed with the task of how to reverse this economic reality and contain China, especially in the Asia-Pacific region.
This new Camp David military pact follows Washington’s revival and upgrading of the QUAD — the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue among four countries: the U.S., India, Australia and Japan. The Quad holds joint military exercises that openly target China.
Dear visiting libs, don’t make it about Ukraine, please, we know your copium all too well. Better let us know how exactly China is responsible for countries with a history of nazi support banding into an openly aggressive military alliance against it. Thanks.
I sure hope usa doesn’t start a hot war with China, but usa are desperate. Also there is an election soon.
The U.S. ruling class has used the war in Ukraine to force all the European countries to cut their favorable trade with Russia and impose sanctions.
Right, everyone (especially the US) is to blame for the consequences of Russia’s attack on Ukraine… except for Russia. Russia should have been allowed to invade Ukraine with no consequences.
This has led to economic recession in most European Union countries.
Considering that there was already a recession due to COVID-19, blaming the sanctions as the primary source of recession is specious.
As sanctions cut off imports of natural gas and oil from Russia, the price of liquified natural gas produced in the U.S. increased.
Welcome to Economics 101. Lower supply results in higher demand. Perhaps if Russia wanted to continue to participate in the global economy they shouldn’t have started a war.
Washington’s strategy aimed to collapse the Russian economy and impose regime change in Russia.
This is true, it is the overtly stated goal. The current regime in Russia is responsible for starting a war.
This project failed because first China, and then all the countries of the Global South, refused to go along with the sanctions the U.S. and EU had imposed on Russia.
Yes, they all decided to support a warmonger instead.
This article is pro-Russian propaganda. It seeks to lay the blame for the impact of the war that Russia started on anyone but Russia.
History did not start in 2022. If the US wanted Russia to stay out of Ukraine, it wouldn’t have planned and funded a fascist coup there in 2014; the decisions made by the people in Crimea and the Donbas to separate from the new US-installed government were entirely reasonable considering that context. Civilian casualties in Ukraine are certainly tragic, but so were the over ten thousand deaths caused by the coup government’s now almost decade-long genocide in the Donbas. The US is the most vile, harmful entity in the known history of humanity, and defending it or NATO is absolutely disgusting.
If the US is involved on your behalf, your side is most likely the bad side.
If the US wanted Russia to stay out of Ukraine
Ukraine wanted Russia to stay out of Ukraine. Ukraine is the victim. Russia is the aggressor. The more you try to deflect from that reality the more your bias is made obvious.
it wouldn’t have planned and funded a fascist coup there in 2014
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
Russia was far more involved in events in Ukraine in 2014 than the US was
the new US-installed government
The current government of Ukraine was elected
the over ten thousand deaths caused by the coup government’s now almost decade-long genocide in the Donbas
This is a claim that Putin has been making since 2015 with no evidence to support them. Again, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.
As you are parroting Putin’s personal talking points, you again make your bias clear.
Ukraine wanted Russia to stay out of Ukraine
Did they? Then why did they systematically break the Minsk agreements and why did they try to genocide their Russian-speaking minority in the east? Why did Zelensky lie to the population that they were going to join NATO when NATO itself has said several times Ukraine was never going to be accepted? Why did Merkel admit Minsk agreements were only about gaining time to arm Ukraine against Russia and were never meant to be a peace deal with the Donbass?
You’re this close to defending genocide, I hope that’s not your intention and it was an honest mistake.
What genocide? I already addressed this. It didn’t happen. It is a baseless accusation made by Putin and nothing more.
Banned for genocide denial. You seem to wilfully misunderstand that civilian deaths plumetted (not the argument politifact thinks it is) because they’ve armed themselves and started resisting the genocide.
Damn, makes me feel like this person has very strong opinions about “Palestinian violence” as well.
I wonder, do they all have a script or something they follow? I don’t remember having one as a lib, but maybe they’ve all received one for Ukraine, all their canned responses are exactly the same as every other debate pervert who shows up. I don’t think I’ve seen an original thought or perspective from any of them, just BBC articles telling them Putin is a Voldemort.
I already addressed this. It didn’t happen. It is a baseless accusation made by Putin and nothing more.
hmm genocide denial? STFU tankie!
I swear all these tankies coming from other instances to deny genocide, it doesn’t feel like I’m on lemmygrad anymore.
I already addressed this.
Russia was far more involved in events in Ukraine in 2014 than the US was
Citing a U.S.-government source? Wonderful. Let’s talk about how the same U.S. government (through mil, 4th PSYOP group) talked about “pulling the strings” behind Euromaidan in a propaganda video (2:57; 3:10). Yes, the U.S. planned and funded the protests.
The current government of Ukraine was elected
They weren’t referring to the current govt. Elections can be manipulated, and not just formally. Here’s a call with the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State and U.S. ambassador to Ukraine where they select a successor during the protests.
There hasn’t been a legitimate election in Ukraine since the one that Yanukovich won back before the Maidan coup. All elections since then have been a fraudulent joke, not least of all because they excluded the millions of citizens living in the Donbass which Ukraine claims are their citizens yet on whom the Kiev Nazi regime has waged war for almost a decade now.
The Kiev regime’s genocide of ethnic Russians and their planned ethnic cleansing of the Donbass (and in their absurd fantasies also of Crimea which they still are delusional as to believe they will ever get their hands on again), are well documented fact.
The aggressors are NATO and their Nazi proxies. Russia is engaged in a legitimate act of self-defense of its own people and of the Russian speaking population of former eastern Ukraine.
extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence
Proceeds to post links to “journalist” articles.
also does no one remember that the post 2014 (and a bit of pre because capitalist sellouts) ukrainian government was a huge part of the pandora papers? They were reputed as one of if not the most corrupt country on earth, and then suddenly they’re hailed as its defender.
2014? Do you mean 8 BRUI (Before Russia’s Unprovoked Invasion)? Why are you bringing up ancient history
Yes, they all decided to support a warmonger instead.
Perhaps if Russia wanted to continue to participate in the global economy they shouldn’t have started a war.
The U.S. will never pay for bombing and massacring millions of people for their own self interests. There is no justification for the hypocritical stance taken in this regard. Very well, Russia should not be able to participate in the global economy, then neither should the Nazi U.S. or any other NATO country. Instead, the major western powers are the ones pushing these “repercussions” under the illusory pretext of peace, for which they have no true allegiance.
sanctions
Illegal unilateral restrictions. Sanctions would’ve been sanctioned by the UN.
I’d love some copium about what parts of your precious circus of international “law” you wish to recognize now, illustrating exactly why it’s a circus, please.
Illegal unilateral restrictions.
Yeah, but… you can’t just expect a capitalist empire to simply not illegally sanction somebody. Not only does that make absolutely no sense, but it is completely, outrageously unfair. I mean, do you have any idea how much effort that would take? To not sanction somebody?
The sanctions on Russia, Haiti, Cuba, N. Korea, and dozens of others are completely their responsibility and expecting them to be the ones to lift the sanctions is perfectly logical. In fact, they’re basically all sanctioning themselves. If anything, America is the real victim in this situation!
Liberals always use the “Economics 101” jab when it’s clear that’s all the knowledge they have lol.
It’s on Lemmygrad. It’s nothing more than a Russian boot licking shithole of an instance.
Look at how they talk about Japan and South Korea not wanting to trade with China because of the US. While ignoring the literal CENTURIES of history that give us various other reasons than just “US make demand.” Obviously the US is part of it, but we give Japan and SK the strength to step away as well. It’s honestly a miracle given the history we even got Japan and SK to work together.
It’s nothing more than a Russian boot licking shithole of an instance.
Like your instance is all good lol. In the couple months it’s existed they’ve tried to doxx someone, they’ve shown they collect personal info from your visit on their instance as well as all messages ever sent in their discord, they’ve asked for free labour as a senior sysadmin, they don’t moderate racists and will pre-emptively defederate as a last resort… it took them months of hand-wringing to defed from exploding-heads (the nazi instance) and Threads (the Facebook instance), but they defederated from hexbear without even consulting the community lmao
go back to reddit please, and leave the fediverse to the adults.
South Korea does not have centuries of history, it has barely 75 years.
Korea has had a millennia of mostly good relations and trade with China before the split.
Look at how you people talk about history while ignoring all the parts that don’t fit your “US good” narrative
Read my comment again, but slowly comrade.
I have made no “US good” arguments. That is a straw man you are setting up to sidestep the real problem here.
And the problem is that Russia conducted a military invasion of another country, which started a war. Russia is a bad actor. Russia deserves all of the consequences of, and blame for, the war that it started.
I wasn’t talking to you. Read my other comment, which was intended for you
Then who is included in your phrase “you people”?
not your persecution complex ass that’s for sure lmao
