That is a killer bill! I never got a chance. In 1998 someone at Boston University booked him to play a small common area but word got out and the crowd was too big so security shut it all down.
That’s interesting, the show I saw him at (in Portland) was seriously overcrowded too. They had to turn people away. I was lucky and got there early so I was in the front row. Seems whoever did his booking didn’t know his worth!
We got there early too. My friend Amber and I who sadly has passed. Worked at a record store and heard he was playing. We did not attend BU, but we got on campus and went to the spot, and people just kept coming. The campus security was like nope.
I think especially in the north east he got big quick. That tape got passed around and recommended a lot.
