An initial consultation to find out if this even could work for you is a hundred fucking euros or just short of $120 US dollars.
Someone working for US Federal minimum wage would have to work 17 hours just to afford it (and that’s before taxes are taken out of the paycheck!). That’s two full time days of 8 hours plus one more hour on a third day. If you take taxes into account, it’s potentially more than 20 hours to afford a consultation.
Just for the fucking consultation in which they might tell you that you’re too poor to go!
Great to know these options exist for the affluent I guess,. Fuck me, what a joke.
You can read about all the options online for free. But, also, if 100€ is a big setback for you, it’s probably safe to say you’re too poor to go. Moving abroad involves some big upfront costs usually.
Ah yes it’s not perfect so lets burn it all the fuck down! If you read the article you’ll see that GTFO offers a bunch of service for people, but you don’t need them to apply for a DAFT visa at all. But yes moving to another country costs money, hell moving across the city cost money. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t look at the idea. The ship is on fire, you might need to get a raft.
I’d leave, but there’s too many people here I care about who I’d be leaving behind. Hundreds of millions of them.
I occilate between “like Benjimam Franklin getting support overseas”, Peter Kotlin asking “What if ever person that wanted change fought for it instead of running to find isolation to avoid conflict”, and “sometimes survival is enough”.
I assume you meant Peter Kropotkin’s Advice To Those About To Emigrate, because that letter also solidified my own feelings on the matter.
But yeah if I were being actively targeted by the state for some kind of criminalization, I’d opt for my own safety first.
You’re like ghandi.
