Clearly the whole drama with Pentagon making a big deal of showing that they’re trying to force AI companies to build autonomous AI killing machines and spy on citizens is completely manufactured.

Anthropic was always going to comply, and the goal is to just create a marketing campaign them as heroically resisting. All the media has been running the story of a plucky Anthropic defying US military to defend ethical AI and protect humanity.

I watched the anthorpic CEO interview on CBS, he is a fucking ghoul too. “I am okay with defending ourselves against autocratic regimes like Iran, China, Russia.” is a straight quote out of his mouth. This is just a marketing stunt for them.

I was confused by the whole thing with the military and the ban and all that because several days ago a friend of mine pointed out that Anthropic had quietly changed their policies. I didn’t actually go look at them but my assumption was that it was so they could work with the military. Then to hear all this hubbub about they won’t let the military do whatever seemed like a smokescreen.
