I genuinely hope the workers were properly compensated for G–1.0, it’s an excellent film and they truly deserve it.
I think your comment and the one about someone in Hollywood pocketing the money are both true. Money laundering and/or a tax trick may also play a role.

At the same time though, you can save a lot of money if you do everything in house. Especially if you have inexpensive labor.

A lot of movies get their budgets from hedge funds because they aren’t generally strongly correlated with the overall market but that’s where the earnings of movies return, not the recipients of the 200M$ spent
The cgi in new movies has been getting worse and worse lately; the mandalorian movie was laughably bad in some spots.
They’re not planning their huge productions properly anymore. Everything has to come out yesterday and that’s the problem.
The entire movie looked like a video game cut scene.
They render the sets using Unreal Engine, so that’s probably not far off the money.
Was it also planned to be a season of the show that instead got turned into a movie like Moana 2 was?

Eh, the new Supergirl movie had its special effects done by the same studio that did Superman. The issue here is the writing and cinematography.
Agreed. Those kids did a great job acting. The writing and direction were just the worst.
At least they didn’t have to remove a moustache the actor had because of another film they were shooting.
