Gaza officials have warned that 700,000 Palestinians in the north are at risk of death by Israel’s starvation.
For the third time since October 7, the U.S. has vetoed a resolution in the UN calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.
The vote comes as government officials in Gaza warn that a third of the population of Gaza is currently at risk of death by starvation.
The UN Security Council resolution, drafted by Algeria, called for a ceasefire and the release of all hostages held in Gaza. The U.S. cast the sole vote against the resolution, with 13 members of the council voting for the resolution and one country, the U.K., abstaining.
The U.S. had also vetoed resolutions for humanitarian pauses in October and a ceasefire and hostage release in December. U.S. ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, called the most recent resolution “wishful and irresponsible,” arguing that a ceasefire would interrupt diplomatic efforts to pause the fighting, even though a ceasefire would achieve that very goal.
Other countries’ ambassadors decried the U.S. veto, saying that it will lead to more death and violence against Palestinians in Gaza — where the official death toll nears 30,000, with thousands more missing — and West Bank, and risk escalating conflict across the Middle East.
FFS come on…

Uh, what?
Its double-speak
She does at least have the first one right. Israel’s just going to keep bombing the shit out of Gaza as much they please, looks like.
My guess on what she was referring to is that there are active diplomatic efforts that aren’t just a bunch of hot air. Not that they will necessarily produce results, but they’ll produce more results than the UN popping out a resolution.
The security councils demands have consequences
Sure, but my point is that Israel would more or less ignore them. They’ve already taken a massive hit to their GDP because of the cost of the current Gaza invasion.
Israel cannot exist without funding from other States. Their whole economy is dependent on others
Because Israel has Christians all over the world giving them money, hand over fist, over myth and superstition.
The Christians think that supporting Israel will get them into “heaven” and the Israeli government has no issue taking that free money so long as no one tells the Christians that the Jews don’t believe their Messiah has returned yet.
So what you have are Christians who all claim to be “pro-life” that are fully willing to allow actual genocide so they can get a “reward” for it when they die.
Nevermind the pesky details of a goddamn thing Jesus allegedly said about murder or treating the foreigner well. And let’s not mince words here; the only source that says the Hebrews were from that part of the world is the Torah/Old Testament. They murdered the inhabitants once, they’ll do it again. But this time they have funding from Western countries that have grown adults pretending that fairy tales are real. The present day nation of Israel was created in 1948 by people who didn’t have the right to give someone else’s country away, but that’s what was done, and now Israel are the Nazis millions of good men died to protect them from.
