We previously reported on the heinous Iowa immigration law inspired by Texas’ SB 4. Thankfully, this week federal Judge Stephen Locher blocked the Iowa law, apparently convinced by arguments that the law is confusing, unnecessarily harsh, and also an attempted power-grab designed to grant some of the federal government’s powers to the state.
“As a matter of politics,” Judge Locher wrote, “the new legislation may be defensible. As a matter of constitutional law, it is not.”
