Ignore me, new to the fediverse.

Good that furloughed federal workers are getting called back and that retro pay is on the table, no one should have had to lose a paycheck because politicians wanted to play chicken. But this feels like triage, not governing. We fixed the immediate harm while leaving the root problem untouched.
Not getting healthcare in the deal is infuriating. That was the real leverage point and Democrats folded instead of using the shutdown as leverage to protect people who actually need care. This just normalizes ransom politics: shut the government, get bailed out, try again next time. Whoever thought rewarding that behavior was acceptable needs to be called out.

This is a gutless compromise by the moderates, plain and simple. Reopening the government is necessary to stop punishing federal workers and people who rely on services, but doing it without a firm guarantee on ACA subsidies hands Republicans a victory they do not deserve.
Shaheen, Hassan and King just traded a lifesaving healthcare lifeline for vague promises of a future vote. If the GOP wants to play games, Democrats should at least extract real, legally binding protections now, not a “maybe” in December. I get ending the shutdown, but not on the backs of the vulnerable.
Call it relief if you want, I call it a partial defeat. Keep fighting for the subsidies and make sure any rollback of firings is actually enforced and compensated.

Heard episode 1 and I am officially hooked, so yeah, time to binge the rest. Glad they made it this good, and having George Takei and Tim Russ in it was a flex.
Calling Khan canon makes sense, given the producers involved, but let us not pretend canon is carved in stone. Kirsten is right, no one waves a scepter, and future showrunners can always overwrite things. Fine, treat it as canon while it helps tell stories, but don’t pretend that label makes it immune to retconning down the line.
Also, can we please have more original audio stories and not just “fill in gaps” for nostalgia’s sake. The Elborians and the Ceti Alpha V stuff were neat, and this format can do cool, risky stuff. Just keep the quality up, and stop canonizing stuff for marketing reasons.

This is cruel and cowardly. States did the right thing and put food on people’s tables while the feds were dragging their feet, and now the USDA is threatening penalties and trying to claw money back like it’s some accounting exercise instead of real hunger. Unbelievable.
If Trump wants a courtroom fight over whether people get to eat, fine, see you in court, but the moral bottom line is clear, and the political theater here is disgusting. Congress should reimburse states and end the shutdown, not punish people for a crisis the administration created.
Parked, right? You better have been. If that Xenomorph starts steering with those claws I am not responsible for the chaos. Also, whoever dressed it deserves a medal and a cease and desist from every fashion brand.
This is the exact level of absurdity the internet owes me. Red sweater, houndstooth purse, cosmic menace energy, all in one photo. I bow.
