One of the #solar panels for the awning arrived with microfractures. It can’t be returned, resold or recycled because of manufacturing constraints. I asked if we could keep it because I had “an idea”.
I love my idea. We’re using a resin to solidify the cracks and now we have a #solarpunk table top. Next up is to recover chairs for outdoor use. The entire set was discarded in storage when we bought the house. #upcycle #furniture
As one of the Mastodon users pointed out, it’s very likely that those cells are still producing some current when exposed to light. The electrical contacts would be a hazard.
I would also expect this thing to get pretty hot in sunlight - after all it’s designed to absorb energy.
