I wonder how a (software) daemon would fit in. It would just take care of various background stuff and nobody would notice it until something goes wrong.

So there’s a lot of text under the criticism section, And I’m sure my argument against it is nothing new, but wouldn’t the operation and monitoring of the door take some energy? Even in a “friction less spherical cow” perfect world, removing the cost of operating the door seems to be a bit of a stretch.

What are the arguments for it really?

Hum… Given an eternity to hold people there, this looks like an incredibly powerful method of torture.

IKR? Especially if they all start the room you can leave and the other room is small enough to be a crush when everyones in it. At first a few people go through the door out of curiosity but realize its one-way, some people panic some don’t, some go in there too but it starts getting crowded. But now you have a minority outside the crush room who are being told not to come in and getting increasingly isolated. One by one everyone enters the crush room making everything worse for themselves and everyone else.

One by one everyone enters the crush room making everything worse for themselves and everyone else.

And they know it’s their fault. And they know there’s an entire room, almost empty, just after that door. And they know they could be in it if they just acted “smarter” (AKA, non-humanely).

        The entire thing is horrible.
