Meta and Salesforce are looking to re-hire some workers they just laid off. It’s putting those people in an awkward spot::Big Tech wants to bring back some of the workers it laid off. The decision might come down to how a company handled the layoffs.

        Two things I find disturbing here: first, that such contracts are apparently impossible; second, that they are so very impossible that you find it funny.

      I know people who were given retention bonuses… basically, don’t quit in the next year while we work on this big project and you’ll get an up front bonus worth 20% of your salary. This is the company saying the employee is key to the success of the project. And these aren’t knew unknown people, seasoned folks with a decade in. Yeah… they got laid 2 months ago. Not sure how that works with the bonus. If they quit they have to pay it back… laid off, who knows.
