I would have figured the three Linuses would have been like:

Enthusiastic loud mouthed young Linus arguing with Tannenbaum.

Aggressive Linus with no filter at all slapping maintainers upside the head.

Aggressive Elder Linus with a personal insult filter applied still slapping maintainers upside the head.
