Geoffrey Hinton himself said that the solution to the downsides of AI is socialism. Based guy if you ask me.

Anyway, I wonder why so many tech-bros are against it. Outside of Lemmygrad, I see mainly right-wingers, AnCaps, and ‘enlightened centrists’ talking about tech. Wasn’t China’s progress enough of a wakeup call? Or do they really think billionaires want to give UBI to everyone? (lol!)

I seriously don’t understand how can someone see the implication of technology and AI, and not be at least anti-capitalist!

Only ones who didn’t completely buy this crap were doomers who noted how once the working class is no longer userful, they will simply kill us, since we’re like livestock to them. I wish however that instead of this defeatism they were more revolutionary and pointed out real enemy: not technology, but those who currently own it! (in capitalist society)

It really seems like a lot of people are treating capitalism as if it was a of a law of nature. They cannot imagine another way of having economic relations even as it becomes increasingly clear that the current system is visibly failing.

Although I do believe there will be an impact in all industries (especially the creative industry), much of what these investors and C-Suites are doing is just a bluff to attract more capital and investment. They know that AI is not profitable yet, and they need massive investments to keep the wheel spinning. Sam Altman, for example, is preaching about the AI apocalypse since before GPT 2.0. AI is the newest capitalist hyped Ponzi scheme.
