I never understood giving them the money back. Even it was their money to begin with, you’re still giving money to Zionists. Why not give it to some Palestinian org?

Same and you are right that they could just give it to a Palestinian org.

However, it is certainly surprising to see stuff like this. Makes me wonder: Will this become a trend? 🤔

Its absolutelt a trend with dems because AIPAC far more strongly aligned Republicans than Democrats. Its very much seen like receiving Koch or Heritage foundation money. Its way more of a partisan issue than a anti-israel issue unfortunately.

Liberal zionist J-Street is still around though but its influence is waning too. You have to reach far down ballot to see people forgo any pro-israel donor but they are there and growing. And they aren’t even that radical. Any fresh “progressive” liberal will see supporting Israel as just politically non-viable, a guaranteed way to loose the primary. Again, they’re rarely pro-palestine, they just see Israel as toxic.

Thats a great question, is there any legal liability in doing so?

This could be an extremely lucrative avenue of siphoning zionist funds to support the Palestinian people.

I can speculate its one of two reasons:

        1. there’s some legal liability where they can sue you. I can definitely see that being a case of fraud if you keep accepting their donations and secretly siphon it to the donors opposition.
        2. You still get labeled as a recipient of their donations because your net balance with them is negative.
