I have never used. But apparently GPT 4o is (was?) great at sycophancy. Now OpenAI have started routing emotionally loaded queries to GPT 5 which is emotionally detached. So these people are losing their AI companion.

The entire gun control debate for one.
The problem is obviously Far Right terrorism, but the discussion is instead about “dangerous people” (vague, non-descriptive) that can get guns too easily.
The “solution” is to make it harder to get guns by making them pricier (classism) to obtain.
The only two talking points are “we need guns to stop bad guys” and “guns kill people so they’re bad” and there’s no middle ground between these two points.
Entirely nonsensical terminology like “assault weapon” (which means nothing) or how every terror attack is never called a terror attack or the perpetrator a terrorist because “shootings” and “shooter” emphasis the “uniqueness” of gun violence (even though a terror attack is still a terror attack regardless of the weapon used) have been invented to engineer this whole debate.
Trans people in sports, cops genociding black people, etc.
Just about every talking point in US politics is nonsense aimed at dividing people by keeping them misinformed.
These all seem like important issues to me, of which there is a righteous communist solution. fyi I’m not American.
They are important issues - that’s not the problem.
The problem is that both the discourse & proposed “solutions” are presented in a manner of binary opposing options with neither being designed to actually address the problem. The idea is to keep the discussion going indefinitely.
The difference is the signifiers have been largely removed from their original essence and come to mean something else entirely. Terms like “Gun Control” are symbols that represent quasi-political identity that has very little to do with literal firearms.
This exists in tandem with the actual, real thing that is gun violence, resulting in an obfuscatory ebb and flow where communication is impossible. Politicians and pundits invoke the symbols to identify with target demographics, but the underlying material reality underneath all the spectacle is largely disconnected.
