    i’m not understanding this at all. isn’t SNAP funded the year prior? isn’t the US fiscal year Jan-Dec? so… huh? states should still have money for the remainder of the year no?

      Unless they’ve exhausted their budget already and were waiting for a loan to distribute additional funds. New SNAP recipients get paid right away, they don’t wait for the remainder of the fiscal year to pass.

      I’ve read that they apply the fiscal year, from Nov to Oct. But I am not sure, I am not an usanian.

      Government fiscal year is Nov-Oct. So they are running out if they needed any extra such as from unexpected amounts of people losing their jobs or getting shifts cut. Something that happens when a large number of consumers are deported or flee and when various federal agencies have cuts. Further tariffs and mass reductions in shipping, removal of various government grants, etc.
