    None of them have to run again in the next midterms, either because their six year term extends past 2026, or they are retiring. So the ones who pulled away to vote for this won’t have to immediately explain it to their voters, and they are hoping people have short memories.

      If there was no upheaval, and no chaos, what reason would Republicans have to negotiate?

      This guy was just waiting for his chance to capitulate.
