    So this video points out he comes from a wealthy background… is there a New York mayor elect who didn’t? Don’t forget that AIPAC alone spent $40 million dollars against his campaign.

    He is not mayor yet, and he is forming his cabinet and preparing for transition.

    The video points out that he has said he won’t immediately fire the police chief. This is probably a political move to stop the police from protesting and working directly against him. If you go in and preemptively fire everyone, I’m fairly certain that you’ll cause more problems than you’ll solve. I assume he would fire the police chief if she refuses to help him implement his policies… which has nothing to do with Israel.

    The video says that his wife has not called out international political issues in her home country… doesn’t relate to New York…

    Give the guy a chance… geez. He isn’t even mayor yet.

    The video may be right, it may also be 100% wrong. I have a feeling it’s going to be somewhere in the middle. We have to wait and see.

    Mamdani is not Jesus…. Jesus H Christ people… he’s going to be a mayor. Give him a chance to try and implement his policy agenda. At least wait until he is actually mayor before claiming that he has failed the people of New York…

    I can’t tell the difference anymore between racist attacks from Israel supporters and attacks from leftists. He’s not mayor yet, though, which is one clue.

    Because actually governing isn’t a boot on the neck of descent. This is the problem with ML dogma. That can as a rule only achieve power through force and violence, and only maintain it through the same.

    When you are a congressperson or the mayor of a large diverse city. You have to represent large diverse populations, ideologies and opinions. You have to compromise to govern. If ideological purity is more important to you than good governance. Stay out of government.

    I am cautiously hopeful Mamdani might be able to undo a tiny amount of damage that ML ideology created and wealthy boguoise amplified to smear the left and socialism.

      It can not be denied that most of the suffering of the Cuban and Venezuelan people has been directly caused by US economic policy.

      I don’t like dictators, but it’s not a black and white as what it seems you are suggesting. I’m fairly certain they got to these dictatorships as well directly because of these same US foreign policies. They have tried multiple dozens of coups of these governments.

      I also know that most of what we hear and read about what is happening in Cuba and Venezuela is US propaganda. If you are a refugee from Cuba or Venezuela… you are either rich enough to be pissed off about socialist policies that help all of the citizens in your country, or… you were so poor that you are just thankful to have all of your basic needs met in the US and probably not going to speak out about US policy in the region….
