One of the most prominent figures on the American right and a former ally of President Donald Trump , Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene , announced on Friday that she will leave her seat in the House of Representatives starting next January.

The Republican legislator from the state of Georgia announced her decision in a video posted on social media .

Taylor Greene stated that she never managed to fit in in Washington and denounced that she has been “rejected” by the political elite since her arrival in Congress.

His resignation comes after months of public tensions with the US president , whom he criticized for his handling of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein , as well as for positions on foreign policy and health matters.

Trump responded by calling her a “traitor” and “eccentric ,” and warned that he would support a Republican rival if Greene sought re-election in 2026.

That distancing marked a break between President Trump and one of the voices that most defended the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement during his first term .

The whole point of her and other new right-wing Congress members was to not “fit in” and to be the ones to “clean the swamp” of political elites. Quitting over that is cringe af for her and any others like her given how loud they have been. I am happy to see any of them quit, fuck them, but it is such a lame excuse.
