I think there’s some nuance to be had there. While media like Hollywood is a vehicle for propaganda there’s less open complicity, it’s more abstracted for people like writers and actors compared to studio heads, producers, etc. Writers especially I don’t think as a group are class traitors/enemies.

By contrast, the bourgeois press has no real benign function. Sure your local reporters could be good people but the national level press is entirely comprised of loyal servants of the bourgeoisie and western empire. The post fits in that category. It is the nature of the creature. There is no innocent collecting a paycheck when you rub elbows in that business with the people their top people do nor any ability to give voice to anything the empire wants silenced.

I wouldn’t say fuck reporters’ unions but I do say fuck the CIA Post and all those whose day jobs are supplying ink to keep the blood of the proletariat flowing in the streets globally and the proletariat asleep or misdirected. Just the same any kind of friction between them and management is good.

The level of difference in complicity between someone who writes Marvel shit and someone whose day job is writing opinion pieces on why Palestinians are animals and their genocide is good and killing their babies is fine and workers shouldn’t complain about conditions and reprinting things handed to them on background by CIA agents and unquestioningly, uncritically parroting deranged atrocity propaganda about the Chinese that increases hate crimes against Asians and on and on is a vast gulf IMO.

Basically the material interests of WaPo and NYT and CNN and NBC top people will always be with the empire and bourgeoisie. Lower level people in them could be otherwise.
