The phone gets 0 major Android upgrades though Moto isn’t the only OEM to indulge in these shenanigans. I had personally a phone from little known Techno (popular in South East Asia). Decent hardware for the price but it never went above the Android 12 it shipped with.

    that was the whole idea behind Android Treble, but it didn’t get much support from manufacturers. Some of its features live on as SGSI (semi generic system image) which is not supported by many devices

      It just needs to be the way Android works from that point forward, not something optional. If they want to have an Android phone, with the play store, and everything that comes with the ecosystem, that’s what they have to do. Manufacturers never want to change what they do.
