I meant it more from a professional view. I have to drive a lot for my job, leading to me having to refuel my non-ev car around once every two weeks. Capacity of the kind descirbed in the article would mean recharging once every decade or two.

It would mean exchanging the battery once every decade or two. Recharging still has to be done at least once a week. The point of this article is to highlight the battery’s ability to not deteriorate much even after many repeated charging cycles. This is no small feat. As you probably know from using a phone, your battery will degrade over time the more you use it and recharge it, until it is eventually no longer able to hold nearly the same charge when full as it once did.

Edit: Actually if you drove your car like the driver in this article you would need to charge it at least once every two days. 165,000 miles in 18 months is about 265,500 km in 18 months, which is 485 km on average every single day (that’s at least 4-5 hours of driving every day, more if they take weekends off, which is probably too much to be a commuter but plausible for someone who drives for a living).

The SU7 can go anywhere from 700 to 900km (allegedly) in one charge, thus this driver is probably charging daily, with maybe an occasional day skipped every now and then.

the range on one of those is between 700km for the base model to 830km for the fanciest one on a full charge

which is pretty impressive to begin with, but is incredible for a sports car
