I think it’s just some pictures that the original poster took and then created a funny story around it, taking some creative liberties with the actual events.
I think it’s either this or a reenactment. I’m horrible at spotting AI, but the kitchen layout looks a little too consistant between the two pics to be completely AI. The only problem is the “second dishwasher.” I’m not sure that’s what it is, though. it looks too narrow. It could be a refrigerated drawer or wine fridge, or maybe one of those big drawers that holds a garbage can. Or maybe it’s AI! 🤷♀️
Some cameras/camera apps do a bunch of post-processing to try and sharpen the image or account for motion. It could also be some other kind of post-processing and/or compression artefacts.
I’ve seen that kind of mangling happen before in digital photos and it doesn’t have to be due to gen AI.
It seems odd that it would happen to such a degree while the “Cheez-It” part is perfect. The last letter clearly not looking anything like “l” and the “baked snack crackers” part underneath being completely wrong are highly suspect. There are other strange things, like the box flap in the second image looking pristine despite being bitten by the dog in the first image and the dishwasher clearly not being open in the first image as well. Those would both be explained by the photos being staged out of order, but since this appears to be a recent image from a quick image search I’m guessing it at least involves AI, though I’d be interested to be proven wrong.
I think you’re overthinking it a bit. The pictures don’t have to be in the same order as the story. I’m reasonably confident the original poster has taken some creative liberties with the story.
I don’t this this is gen AI.

If it’s not AI, explain why the “original” on the box looks like that.

Probably. But that text is really, really weird in a way that simple blurring doesn’t explain.
