    That monkey is also staple Polish meme, representing typical Polish boomer and his family, the spiecies is called “nosacz sundajski” in Polish, i can’t guarantee your sanity after searching though since those memes range from pretty funny to absolutely disgusting.

    When the Dutch colonized/invaded Indonesia they started referring to these monkeys as ‘orang belanda’ or ‘monyet belanda’ (Dutchman/monkey). Because of our relative big noses. So I guess they were already onto something back then.
