New York City police are investigating after officers were pelted with snowballs while responding to a massive snowball fight at Washington Square Park in Manhattan.

A video of the fracas shows two uniformed officers pacing a walkway in the park Monday as snowballs fly at them from all directions, hitting the officers and covering them in snow.

The officers, growing visibly frustrated, shoved at least two people to the ground as snowballs continued to whizz by. At one point, a person runs up behind an officer and mushes some snow onto his head. One of the officers can be seen rubbing his eye toward the end of the video.

In a statement Tuesday, the New York Police Department said multiple uniformed officers were struck in the face with snowballs and were “removed by EMS in stable condition” to a nearby hospital, but did not disclose additional information on their injuries.

There used to be cops who knew how to deal with people on a human level.
Then 9/11/2001 happened and every cop in America was told that they were the front line of the War On Terror.

Basic common sense was replaced by The Punisher mind set.

Pre 9/11 cops would have looked, reported that it was just a snowball fight and walked away. These idiots had to be tough guys.

Was that before or after NYPD started training with the IDF? I’ve lost track of the excessive force saga at this point. Like I know we’ve got that douchecanoe whose name escapes me currently who was going around training cops that it’s literally a war of Cops vs the Public and any random person they interact with IS actually out to kill them, the rapid militarization of American Police, and larger Police Forces like the NYPD doing exercises with the IDF but I cannot for the life of me remember which came first.

Police officers in any other Nordic country likely would have joined in when they saw that all is fine and it’s just a snowball fight

        I live in NYC.

Some idiot would see the cops throwing snowballs and put a rock in theirs.

Who says I’m acting like I’m on reddit?

If people are having a massive snowball fight in new York city, and cops show up and are concerned about people concealing rocks in the snow… There’s hundreds of people there… Why not just throw a rock? Why have to hide it in a snowball?

I didn’t think people on Fed were this fucking uptight.

                    Who says I’m uptight?

You want to throw a rock at a cop, be my guest. Just don’t hide behind hundreds of other people who might be hurt when the police decide to react.

            Learn some history.

Back in the day, when the Industrial Workers of the World did any action they had a squad that made sure no one threw rocks at the police. The IWW leadership knew that one cop with a bruise meant a few dozen innocent marchers with broken bones.

If starting trouble for other people makes you a ‘genius’ than Donald Trump deserves a Nobel Prize for Science.

Off topic rant incoming in 3

I don’t like the phrase “thank you” because it’s manners, but it has a pronoun inside. And so it puts Me in a really socially awkward position. And it’s a position most people wouldn’t understand. If someone has second person neopronouns, then “thank you” makes a person feel bad, while having really good intentions behind it, so if you complain or correct, it’s really rude and it feels bad to do so. I try to avoid manners that have pronouns inside when I’m talking to strangers, but it would be unreasonable of Me to expect the same from most people. I like “thanks”. But “thank you” makes Me feel bad, AND conflicted. It’s the most annoying manners.
