Do it sooner than later if there’s anything you want to save. I’ve got a dozen old HDDs and recently picked up an enclosure. Only tried a half dozen drives so far, but 2 of them were dead. The drives were probably about 10 years old and haven’t been used in 6-8 years or so.
I have most of the hard drives from my previous computers. One of these days I’ll get an enclosure for them and see what still works.
