Hi Lemmy,
I am trying to install Lineage OS on Chromecast. The documentation talks something about route access (I ignored it, assuming I don’t have to route my device)
** My question **
I enabled USB debugging, tried:
adb devices
my PC wouldn’t recognise the Chromecast. I did some research online, and discovered that we need to have WiFi debugging enabled to use adb after the android 14 update, is it true/compulsory to enable the same? If yes, is there a docs or guide I can follow?
My setup: PC: Linux Mint 22.3 Zena
Chromecast: Chromecast with Google TV
Thanks in advance
PS: I am not a developer, I know some coding and work in data science. Please correct me if I said something wrong.

If you have the android 14 update you’re not going to be able to install LineageOS on that Chromecast. Only devices that haven’t been updated past the February 2021 patch level are vulnerable to the exploit required to install lineage.
Just when I am trying to move away from big tech. This happens
I removed windows from my PC, thought installing lineage OS on Chromecast will give me confidence to mess up with my phone.
Maybe I will start by buying one more Chromecast from marketplace/eBay mess that up and then work on my phone.
Don’t. Chances of finding a pre 2021/23 model are slim, and if you happen to connect it to the net carelessly, it will auto bork itself.
