Serious question. We had a perfectly serviceable word, yet everyone decided to shift. Is it just that it’s shorter to type?

If so, I feel for your colleagues trying to parse your code when all your variables use abbreviations.

    As far as I know coding used to refer to work related to web development (basically HTML, CSS and perhaps JavaScript when it hadn’t evolved as much as it did later) and programming to developing applications/software. That’s how I learned it ±30 years ago at least. Seems there’s been a shift since then.
