Enjoying the company of others while also finding it emotionally draining is such a strange paradox.

Whats paradox about it? Thats akin to enjoying hitting the gym but being physically drained after an hour vor so.

That’s exactly how I feel, and why my mind is always boggled that extraverts gain energy from being around people. It must be caused by brain damage or something. Who would gain energy after working out at the gym (yes I know being active makes you feel like you have more energy but that’s days later. I’m talking right afterwards.)

Extroverts don’t gain energy from social interactions. They just have a MUCH HIGHER need for social interaction. So they feel like shit anytime they don’t socialize. They also tend to get drained by social interactions much slower.

It’s like if someone who was eating only chips for months finally eats healthy. They seem energized because they finally have their nutritional needs met. You’d think “wow salad really energizes them, I usually need more calories to feel energy like that”, but it’s actually the chips making them feel like shit.

I can only explain it that energy can’t be created or destroyed thus our drained energy has to go somewhere, that somewhere are the extroverts.
