    Sorry for this odd question, but why “3.5 thousand” instead of 3500 or 3.5k?

      “3,5 thousand” seems common in spoken language, but not in writing, afaik. I don’t know how common it is in english (and dialects), but in german it is.

        Its fine, but in English, three and a half thousand (fraction rather than decimal) is probably more common.
