I’m pretty sure this is illegal? They have to accept my GDPR request, and they certainly can’t block me from reporting that it isn’t working, for them to accept it.

They also have an email address so that you can make a GDPR request via email since the EU legislation gives you the right to do that, you shouldn’t be forced to use their platform to do that as otherwise it would be too easy for a company to lock you out of the process.

Here’s what Reddit’s privacy policy says:

If you have questions or are not able to submit a request to exercise your rights using the mechanisms above, you may also email us at to [email protected] from the email address that you have verified with your Reddit account, or submit them here.

Is r/help run by admins? I can’t remember.

Anyways, while I agree that they can’t ignore your request for your data under the GDPR, i don’t think there’s a law saying that they have to acknowledge their website being broken. Technically it’s fine for their system to be broken as long as you’re able to submit a GDPR request (even if only by email), unfortunately.

@JackGreenEarth Yeah, I saw message like on day 20 and they have memo that “download link works 7 days, please reply if you can’t download” well I replied once, twice, trice and send email to support. Only after I send email I got working link. So don’t bother with Reddit, direct email will go through other channels. And you are forced to login on reddit to download.

Hopefully just a temporary issue but seeing how they’ve handled stuff over the past few months, it wouldn’t surprise me if part of their GDPR download was busted
