As part of the devs farewell message on their site, they have included malicious code to make each visitor sends 2,000 requests to the dbzer0 servers in an attempt to DDOS and take the instance offline.

The author of tesseract hardcoded blacklists that targeted communities, moderator and phrases that were progressive or anti-conservative. These blacklists weren’t editable by a user, not publicised, and not documented.

Users then starting posting how it explained why they weren’t seeing that content as much. Then some users cried themselves to sleep because they weren’t special enough to be in included in the lists. 😭

So they got called out for supporting fascists, took their toys home, and left a boobie trap on their website while crying to sleep at home alone, or maybe on the streets. I don’t know or really care where they are crying.

I see. As someone who has been in said communities, I must ask: were all trans and leftist communities blocked, or were only the niche hang-outs of specific individuals blocked? Because in my experience, trans and leftist spaces are rarely what they are named for, and are instead hangout spaces for specific online cliques. “Trans communities” may ban all trans people except 5 individuals, for example, and still call themselves a “trans” community.

You said that “they” got “called out for supporting fascists”? What fascists did they support? Are you saying that the author of the blacklist is a fascist based on his banning trans and leftist communities, or are you saying that they’re Trump supporters or something like that?

I’m afraid this is not enough context, my apologies.

They locked out the entirety of blahaj and db0 and also the phrase “censoring me”.

They also had a violent objection to beans

So… not trying to be rude, but is this a trans instance, or is this for same-age white lesbian trans fems to hook up with or flirt with one another and post porn because they don’t have their own bars in real life? Edit: And if it is, do they allow all white trans fems to post there, or only the transfems they’ve personally hooked up with or want to?

Sometimes trans spaces are not trans spaces but are actually just for one singular specific group of people and don’t actually represent “the community,” and thus beef with this one particular very specific group of individual people does not always represent beef with the community as a whole.

Edit again: No “allies” please. Only reply if you’re trans.

Edit again again: It looks like this is an instance for caterpillars and eggs, rather than a hookup space. I was right about it being overwhelmingly white though, not necessarily bad and could be accidental, but white caterpillars are do not represent the majority of the community as a whole.

I have never seen anything but very left leaning communities on Lemmy. What is this about?

Most like the first of many attacks by right-wing nutjobs that resent any platform still exists that isn’t pumping their own agenda full throttle…
