      This is the deeper reason that “ACAB.” Not because of isolated instances of a rogue violent officer (though that is bad). But because their overarching function is to protect the “system”

      Precisely because they spend all day at Walmart arresting people. Police work for corporations not the public. We’re just responsible for funding them and their lawsuits with our tax dollars.

      Seriously. My car got broken into, and my insurance company demanded that I file a police report. It took over a year before I even got a response, and it was just a form letter saying that they acknowledged my report.

        I had my school bus broken into one time. I called the police department, explained the situation, and asked the dispatcher if they could send an officer to make a report. This is how the rest of the conversation went:
        “Nah.”
        “Nah?”
        “Yeah, nah.” click

      Car might make them do work. Petty theft and drug use are quick and easy stat boosters dealing with harmless individuals they can shoot if they get bored.
