It’s pretty interesting to see movie directors experience the same issues that comic book writers have experienced with these companies.

Hulk really feels like the character they have no clue what to do with and have ruined significantly since his first appearances. I find myself dreading moments on screen with hulk now, where I used to look forward to them.

Thing is, Marvel never fully owned the distribution rights, so they could not make a Hulk movie without letting Universal distribute it. Of course, they could have. They would have simply made slightly less money. So knowing they weren’t going to make a sequel to The Incredible Hulk, they tried to squeeze his highlights into other movies. Planet Hulk, Skaar, Professor Hulk, it was like that episode of community where Abed delivers a baby in the background of each scene. I’m surprised we didn’t have Loki visit Las Vegas and get bounced from a club by Joe Fixit. You get these saltatory story fragments that tease a better movie happening in the next room, but oh you just missed it sorry.

Anyway, he was always one of my favorite comic characters, and it kills me to see how they massacred my boy.

Hulk was best in Ragnarok. I don’t mind professor Hulk, but I wish we could have seen talking-but-still-dumb-Hulk struggle with people seeing him as a monster followed by a compelling reason to “combine the brains and the brawn.”

Then they could move on to the “uh oh we need to physically split Banner from The Hulk” storyline.

Yeah they could have done so much better post-Ragnarok.

He needs a generous dollop of Joe Fixit attitude, to my mind. Goofy Hulk is just a little embarrassing.

They could have used Hank Pym working with Tony to solve time travel and still have dumb Hulk there. They could have had a conversation about Ultron and how Hank wishes he had thought of it.
