I dont play a lot of chess and I’m bad at it but I recommend playing chess puzzles or timed chess. If it helps, just think of it as a mini skermish on one area of the “map”.
While there is competitive chess, I think the advantage it has over most things is that many people know how to play and that most of the time its a casual background game. Like you aren’t trying to win, you are trying to not lose.
When someone is playing at a house party, it’s so much fun to make wierd faces after they played a move or so.
Yeah… everytime I see it in movies I kinda cringe. However it still is an effective narrative tool to say that the person is a stategist or is in a higher tax bracket ( or honestly any quality that the common viewer doesn’t have). Even so, I wish writers would stop doing this.
I think for ML and stuff, I am currently waiting for the release of the 24gb intel battlemage cards.
Our college has a lot of alienware aurora r7’s and i think its a pretty okay sized case. Like the ones we have are loaded with 4090’s, so I assume you should be fine. If you are upgrading anything, you should make sure your powersupply covers the requirements.
I’ve never tinkered with alienware but two of my friends had issues trying to upgrade cpus because the bolts and screws were installed super tight. Maybe you wont have this issue. Best of luck hope this helps :]
I think I have a similar experience, just a few years off.I didn’t grow up with nes or snes but my parents did. Took me a while to find out that my parents used to be gamers because during childhood, gaming was basically banned. I didn’t learn until later on in life that the reason why it was banned was because it was tooooo addicting (for them lol) like my mom sold her entire snes collection and my dad just hid his sega genesis and nomad. Gaming only picked up for me when I got my first computer. After a decade of multiplayer gaming, I’m finally starting to play games that I had missed out during my childhood and let me tell you, holy shit these games are fun. Would life be any different if I had access to these consoles growing up? Probably, but either way I am sure I would still have fun.
Whenever both of my parents retire, Im gonna setup my parents consoles ( will prob emulate snes cuz its too expensive to buy) and be like “You cant die yet mom/dad, you’re gonna have to beat all these games in your library lol”.
Sorry just woke up (holy smokes theres so many new comments maybe this was answered). You want to plug it into the gpu. Its a common/uncommon mistake new people do. But hey have fun when you get all the parts! I hope all these comments help, its been a while since I have last built a computer.
just eyeballin the specs it looks alright - like idrk if its all compatible I assume they are. I would get more ram if possible, I think 32 is gonna be the standard soon if not now (therefore if you want to future proof maybe get more).
Also get more fans. I’ve heard that there are noctua clones (or something else ) that have been doing well but I can remember the name.
Get a ups - dont want to have your computer fry during a storm.
Maybe increase powersupply because overtime they will lose there capability( I dont know what its called exactly but basically over time it will decrease in output).
Oh shit I just noticed, do you have a cpu cooler? DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON THIS. Im pretty sure ryzen7 doesnt come with a heatsink but if it does, chances are its mid. Ive only built with air coolers never tried AIO liquid coolers so I cant say much about them.
You “could” buy stuff used but like since this is your first pc I would try getting everything new. Also, new stuff “can” sometimes come outta the box broken (it just happens sometimes) so keep that in mind. But overall, yeah have fun :] I assume you are also getting a gaming monitor so make sure you set the refresh rate in os settings! Also dont plug in displayport or hdmi cable into motherboard. Sorry for the long text but again have fun!!
THERMAL PASTE- dont need to be too fancy but do shop around.
Also if you do end up getting more fans, you might need a fan controller. I do not know if your motherboard has enough fan ports. Do keep this in mind ~ it sucks to go back to a store to buy more stuff.
My memory is foggy but ive used xfce for a long while, then switched to i3gaps with void linux. stopped using linux cuz they couldn’t locate the developer or something( like we didn’t get updates for half a year 0_o)
… I ended up forgetting how to use i3. I dont know what the community uses nowadays but my god i3 was AMAZING. It felt like a caveman that just learned how to make fire- and it was a big fucking fire.
I reaaaaally want to use i3 again but do not want to spend the time relearning everything. Highly recommend it though.
From what I understand one of the things that is protecting Taiwan from China is their fabs. They will fight for their lives to make sure they are protected by this.
As someone with family over in Taiwan, I really want them to be okay. Things are getting depressing globally.
wait… the same people who made pinephone makes watches now? 0_0!! this is amazing i need to order one.
I used to kinda complain about this but being unable to play lol or lostark has greatly improved my life. I don’t mind being unable to play these games.
I am very grateful for proton and all of the technologies that allow me to play majority of my games. linux gaming in 2015 was painful.
Im at a similar place as you where I do as much gaming on linux as possible but then there are some games that just do not work :(. At this point Im really thinking about playing warzone on a console since there is support for keyboard and mouse (last time I checked).
The earlier parts of the game can get pretty confusing but imo it does get better once you get familiar with the place. Plus all the powers and weapons are A LOT of fun. I love this game and played it nonstop during the winter holiday. I think one of the reasons why I kept playing was because of how interesting the enviornment felt. For me, it does feel like youre walking through some government building. Also, I didn’t really pay attention to the story at first but after seeing how much effort the developers put into it (like those live action TV’s), I started to actually read all those collectable documents and texts. They are pretty funny and do give the game a special charm. I promise you, if you stick with the game it will be rewarding. I do not want to spoil anything but one of the last chapters of the game has great music and is a lot of fun.
And if you ever get bored, you can always turn on all the aim assist + ability cooldown options and kill everything like a god.
If I remember correctly, you can play witcher 3 in a Tesla. (My bad, I didn’t read the comment above)
