The amount of people that I personally know, who i have convinced to try out linux, AND END UP CHOOSING ARCH AS THEIR FIRST DISTRO, IS TOO DAMN HIGH >:^[

Idk where these people get the idea from, I never mentioned arch to them but some how it just happens.

    Help.

  • I recommend Nobara OS nvidia version. This comes with drivers during initial installation so no need to follow wiki guides and spend additional time carefully installing stuff. The biggest “plus” is that (assuming you are using discord), they have a pretty large discord server where you can ask questions and stuff.

Even though its just a spin on fedora, I think this community and distro is good for newcomers who also game.

  • I dont play a lot of chess and I’m bad at it but I recommend playing chess puzzles or timed chess. If it helps, just think of it as a mini skermish on one area of the “map”.

While there is competitive chess, I think the advantage it has over most things is that many people know how to play and that most of the time its a casual background game. Like you aren’t trying to win, you are trying to not lose.

When someone is playing at a house party, it’s so much fun to make wierd faces after they played a move or so.

  • I think for ML and stuff, I am currently waiting for the release of the 24gb intel battlemage cards.

Our college has a lot of alienware aurora r7’s and i think its a pretty okay sized case. Like the ones we have are loaded with 4090’s, so I assume you should be fine. If you are upgrading anything, you should make sure your powersupply covers the requirements.

I’ve never tinkered with alienware but two of my friends had issues trying to upgrade cpus because the bolts and screws were installed super tight. Maybe you wont have this issue. Best of luck hope this helps :]

  • I think I have a similar experience, just a few years off.I didn’t grow up with nes or snes but my parents did. Took me a while to find out that my parents used to be gamers because during childhood, gaming was basically banned. I didn’t learn until later on in life that the reason why it was banned was because it was tooooo addicting (for them lol) like my mom sold her entire snes collection and my dad just hid his sega genesis and nomad. Gaming only picked up for me when I got my first computer. After a decade of multiplayer gaming, I’m finally starting to play games that I had missed out during my childhood and let me tell you, holy shit these games are fun. Would life be any different if I had access to these consoles growing up? Probably, but either way I am sure I would still have fun.

Whenever both of my parents retire, Im gonna setup my parents consoles ( will prob emulate snes cuz its too expensive to buy) and be like “You cant die yet mom/dad, you’re gonna have to beat all these games in your library lol”.
