Oh shoot! I had no idea she started her own channel. Looks like I got some new videos to binge. She was one of favorites on LTT back in the day. Felt way more grounded and technically competent than the others who felt much more like hobbyist with big budgets rather than skilled professionals. I’m sure they are all amazingly proficient, I’m just talking about their persona on camera.
I think what [email protected] is getting at is that Typst also a paid web app developed by a for-profit company. This same company is who manages the github repo for the Typst language compiler. They seem to take issue that this post is promoting a partially open-source project for a for-profit company.
Most probably, yes. A lot of these are fundamental concepts of most modern object-oriented languages that I am familiar with. It may be worth refreshing your basic programming skills/concepts with a book you like. There are plenty available online for free in C#, Java, C++, Go, etc.
I’m glad that the server team is experimenting and trying new things out. This looks really cool for someone!
I just really hope this isn’t a preamble to becoming the new default theme, because I really dislike this. It reminds me of other social media services that I go out of my way to avoid.
I particularly dislike the infinitely scrolling dark pattern, but I also don’t like that it displays all content immediately, wasting bandwidth, making it difficult to see headlines, and more difficult to ignore previously seen content.
I’ve only made it to season 2, so I’m holding out hope that it gets better, but lazily progressive seems to describe it pretty well.
The one that really rubs me rough it how Tilly is very clearly coded to be some type of neuro divergent, probably autistic, but also only when it is convenient and quirky and will not interfere with the plot too much.
Her suddenly being very socially adept when the plot needed her to pretend to be an evil commander or whatever, and she dropped all of her character flaws to make it happen just felt so out of character and lazy.
Also the scenes with Spock and “child abuse bad” at the start of the red angel arc was very ham fisted.
I much preferred how SNW handled the “our wonderful society is supported by horrible child labor and death” arc. Still about as subtle as a brick, but it at least felt like an attempt was made to encode a message, and not just saying it at the viewer like a pre-school cartoon recapping the message of the episode.
The song “1985” was released in 2004. At that time, the song was reminiscing about a time that was 19 years ago. Now, in 2024, the year 2004 is 20 years ago. Therefore, the release year of the song “1985” is closer to the year 1985, than the current year is to the year the song “1985” was released (2004).
That word would probably be either “skeuomorph” or “vestigial”
Not really, once Reddit closed off their API to all but the absolute highest of bidders, it broke a lot of functionality of a lot of smaller apps like this. You might still be able to find something to spruce up the CSS client side somewhere, but a lot of devs abandoned the ecosystem once Reddit, the company, made it clear in no uncertain terms that community support and 3rd party partnerships were unwelcome.
Thank you!
Can someone give a brief overview of Lakka? Will admit that I’m on mobile and am being a bit lazy. Top 2 Google results were fluff pieces. Is it just a launcher? A drop in replacement for retroarch? Emulates a only a specific set of consoles that aren’t being cared for by the retro arch community?
HTML parsers scare me. I already knew it was a big job, but this blog post sealed the deal that HTML, err… the web’s interpretation of HTML(?), is one heck of a mess.

Ok, you are entitled to your opinion, but the claim was that Christian churches and Christian church goers weren’t being targeted or “demonized,” which I’ve shown is false. Both with an example from yesterday morning, and an aggregate data set which shows some level of significance. Now, whether you want to argue if it is deserved, or proportional, or whatever else is up to you and your morals. However, the original claim that Christians are not the target of harassment because of their religious affiliation is simply not true.
I thought that the article being from this morning would say enough, but I mean… https://www.christianpost.com/news/436-acts-of-hostility-against-us-churches-documented-in-2023.html
Do you… do you do rocket surgery?
From someone who transitioned from operations to development over the course of their admittedly short career, this is a poor mindset. Much like how you shouldn’t disrespect a janitor or a nurse, you shouldn’t say “gross” about IT work.
IT may not be the reason for the company’s existence, but it is what allows it. The company may not exist without you, but you don’t exist without IT.
What are you on about? Wtf cryptofash?
I scored 12/28 on https://jsdate.wtf/ and all I got was this lousy text to share on social media.
