  • I was already bitter about patrasche being translated/localized(?) as patlash in re:zero but things are getting even shittier I guess. For those not in the know Dog of Flanders is a story nearly every japanese person will know at least to some degree, and has been referenced infinitely in anime and manga.

And similarly so many weird fucking names you could search the katakana online and find 30 different game wikis that reveal it was just akward katakana for a common non-japanese name, but no it has to to be different in this anime or that manga and we are going to make up some aneurysm romanization for it.

or incorrect subject assumtion because japanese is vague on that and if it’s ai translated it actually makes sense with the lack of context awareness, and the list could go on for days

  • things aren’t ready for this unless they wanted all the gamers to fuck off. Gaming on linux is a huge part of the already small percentage increase in linux use and a lot of people are just starting. Suddenly not having a bunch of games work or some not without advanced hurdles and probably being told it would be easier to pick another distro is too much for newbies who may just give up and go back to windows.

hopefully hopefully valve will move along with 64 bit steam and wine’s wow64 functionality improves before the supposedly inevitable no choice but to drop 32 bit release.

  • you can do this with any pc as long as none of the parts have issue in a linux distro. There’s no need to go out of your way to use a piece of crap.

I used to browse hackaday for days on end when I was a kid but “here’s a guy that installed a linux distro on hardware that he didn’t expect to work and it worked” isn’t the tier of article that drew me in back then, and is also a couple decades behind the curve for that kind of linux news.

  • I try once each year for about a month but so far I just can’t and I’m the opposite. Before the total style change it was also opposite and early kde was just kinda gross. Old gnome was my entry point with desktop environments and linux in general. When the change happened I tried literally everything else before kde because I didn’t like the older versions but eventually it came standard on a lot of distros and I just got used to it.
