The indentions on the side are for a spanner wrench to tighten this nut onto a threaded rod. The top is a decorative cover.
Try removing the battery, then with the battery removed press the power on button on and off for about 30 seconds, put battery back in and see if it starts charging.
It’s always a balance between security and convenience. You have to mitigate what risk you are willing to well…risk
