Because of the extremely common parlance “drop out of warp” I want to say it implies that the ship keeps moving afterward.

When I run and carry my coffee it is “at warp” but when I stumble and drop it then it is no longer “at warp” but yet it still falls away from the point I dropped it.

But when you drop an abstract there is no implication of movement; when I drop a bad habit it just ceases to exist.

But since the ship still exists after dropping from warp, this is unlikely to be the intended meaning.

Ergo ships drop from warp and that dropping imparts momentum/inertia to ships.

Yes, we see TPol reading the new rediscovered teachings of Surak, demonstrating the spread in new ideas

We also see the Vulcan ambassador standup for being a “deviant” and ultimately prevail, demonstrating a shift in attitudes.

The Vulcan arc was one of the most strangely satisfying because:

• It begins strong in the first 5 episodes or so (until Trip gives Tpol pecan pie)
• Goes into the back burner for 2.5 seasons, except for random jabs at the Vulcan High Command
• Goes into overdrive in S4 and shows us how these Vulcans become the ones we’ve come to know.

If you do that you miss much of the best Trek villains:

Kai Wynn and Gul Dukat

They are part of reason folks are advising you to hang in there.

But ultimately just enjoy it and skip any episode that is boring you; if you make it halfway you’ll probably want to watch the few relevant ones you skipped.

Enterprise all the way.

It starts strong with lots human/vulcan conflict and then eases into 2 seasons of TNG-style adventures.

Season 3 is an imperfect masterpiece that ultimately delivers some incredible episodes. This is where Enterprise comes into its own.

Season 4 is more like a collection of 3-parters that sees the crew touch on all the lore they missed in the first 3 seasons. Satisfying but a different vibe.

Highlights include:

• Captain Archer feuding with Duras
• Dr Phlox improving every episode he appears
• Lt Reed vs Major Hayes
• Grapplers!

Low points include:

• Decontamination
• Archer/Tpol tension
• Cogenitor episode
• The finale

It’s a matter of opinion of course, but to me Picard 1/2 suffers the same malady as S31: “all we need is a big star to sell our franchise”

Season 3 felt to me like the owners of the franchise desperately trying to salvage the final season from Patrick Stewart’s meddling.

As for Kirk’s stories you’re right he’s done if not already overdone, at least as a main character. Who knows how he may work as a supporting character 🤷‍♀️

We know Riker plays for keeps; Quark owes him platinum and tried to foist gift cards on him for payment.

We know the TNG poker games would also raise the stakes; Crusher challenges Riker, LaForge, and Worf to bet shaving their beards that one time.

We know that gambling lingo is still commonplace, even though Mariner doesnt know other slang from our era (eg what a pinup poster is)

I want to say that gambling never left and it makes me realize we’re sorely missing a proper heist episode. With Quark 👌

Buffertime episode was the one where I became hooked.

The show consistently delivered until the very end, at least for me.

My only petty gripe is when I recently rewatched an episode: Riker comments about seeing Archer and the gang in the holodeck and now that I’ve seen ENT…I don’t want to be reminded of the finale. I told you it was petty!

5 seasons and a movie, make it so!

…all estimates to date project that the series will debut on Paramount+ sometime in 2026. In the meantime, the show has already been renewed for a second season of production.

Glad they believe in it enough to want a second season.

Now I wait until 2026 to see Parrises squares onscreen at last 🙏

I have a half-baked thought of my own.

That as the world slides into the maws of oligarchy, we need to see the Star Trek series that zooms in on the transition away from money.

They should face the music of class war with that Trek panache that made them great👌

There is this thing we need to find that thing. An entire season about finding that thing.

Ah yes, the season-sized adventure that feels like a bunch of yak-shaving fetch-quests in an rpg.

we must find the progenitor macguffin, but first we must find the treasure map, but first…

If we look for it we probably see this pattern is common across many trek episodes, but across a season they managed to do it in such a way that feels very obvious and hard to miss.

Give them Andor instead of Ahsoka; they need to make more content that speaks to the universal human condition and less about the cool worlds and characters they’ve got. The people want Squid Game and Severance, not another cinematic universe.
