  • Well why would lemmy and reddit be any different? Same format, same people - just on a smaller scale. But it makes any drama more visible.

Well, when the first migration to Lemmy happened (when Apollo got shut down because of Spez and such), Lemmy was quite friendly and welcoming. Debates and discussions weren’t as heated, and people debated with a genuine interest in the topic. People claimed Lemmy was better than Reddit, and I remember mentioning that it would change, and a few months later, it did, and I mentioned that too and got heavily downvoted. But behold now; different platform but the same kind of toxic environment.

Though there are still some people who claim Lemmy is better than Reddit, because they don’t like Reddit and/or got banned from Reddit.

The more read about these bans stuff on Lemmy, the more I just see the similarities between Reddit and Lemmy lol.

    • Random bans because you said something that disagrees with the moderator.
    • Fake modlog to ban users.
    • More hostility these days.
    • People argue just to… argue. Not to have a genuine debate.

Eventually every social media platform becomes the same kind of environment. Unfortunately.

  • Honestly, I wish the system would just educate such people in “white hat” hacking (if that’d the correct term?). I mean, I have zero knowledge in hacking, coding and that kind of stuff but he seems really smart.

    What he did is definitely wrong but, he also said himself;

“I think I need to go to prison for what I did,” Lane told ABC News in an exclusive interview

“It was disgusting, it was greedy, it was rooted in my own insecurities, it was wrong in every aspect,” he said in the interview, two days before reporting to prison.

Now I’m also a bit skeptical because, he could also say this only due to him being caught, arrested and now sent to prison.

Members of Generation Z – who have had digital devices and the Internet in their lives since birth – are particularly vulnerable to the allure of cybercrime because the social media platforms they inhabit can glorify “a criminal lifestyle”

It is not “can”, it is. Movies, tv shows and a lot of social media post do glorify crimes.

Wanted to write more but eh, at work…

  • I’m fine with not having an algorithm

Then why even mentioning it (in a more negative than neutral tone)?

I just don’t feel the need to see some ladies twat unless I’m looking for that content specifically. I’m not saying the platform is bad, just it needs some work still.

Whether you use the platform or not, does not really matter (to me). You are right the platform needs some work and they’re putting the work while being one of social media platform that’s being targeted by Zionists.

I have written what, I wanted to write. I have shown the text and image the developer wrote. That’s about it. I’ll leave it at that, I guess.
