I didn’t see this one: I’ll never buy a car made after 2011 for privacy reasons. (As well as repairability)
It seems like my best bet is to retrofit an older petrol car. I’d spend a lot, probably even more than what a new car costs in cash, but I haven’t found a great ev swap plan yet, so hopefully in the future. I’ve saved a couple of totaled cars from the scrapyard so far.
I’d honestly probably spend upwards of $100k in cash on a privacy-first new EV with features I want, but apparently the car industry doesn’t want to make a product for me. (Not the slate truck)

DVD have already polluted and currently exist and are rotting, and need to be ripped to longer term storage, especially for media that is becoming lost and needs a custodian to host so it can be pirated online. A lot of things cannot because no one has it, but it still exists in physical form.
Some may be ok with a whatever resolution streaming service webrip but I want the original dvd HD remaster, before they re-remastered it with only a single layer disk instead of double, messing up the original faithful rerelease that was already anticipated during filming when the show was filmed in HD widescreen film, but originally released in SD for broadcast due to the time. Plus, you can’t webrip the “banned” episodes if they’re not available.
I think it’s worse because Bezos (ex-wallstreet) had his buddies at Bain Capital short-and-distort competing companies into bankruptcy, which has the added bonus of clearing the tax burden from the gains on those shorts.
9·1 month agoDoes Kalshi and Polymarket not do this already? It’s just an “event tied financial instrument”, so it’s completely legal in the US.
I’d probably put most of my money towards something like this that actually incentivizes us to eat the rich.

Yes but after a while you may start to yearn for some rarer things as well. There’s still lots of pre-lost media out there on rotting dvds waiting for custodianship that I haven’t been able to find online. There’s also some newer HD rereleases having single channel and lower quality or something, so finding the original dvds is better sometimes.
The USA owns 10% of the company, which might turn off some.

IMO, Satya isn’t the same anymore. His disabled child died, and he gave a speech about pushing forward to investors at the time but no longer cares about accessibility. Now, he’s got ai-induced psychosis so he doesn’t care about azure, office, Xbox, linkedin, GitHub, etc. Unless it has Copilot in it, because he’s invested in openAI.
He’s an ex hedge-fund psychopath who used his connections and corporate consultant buddies to short and distort the competition into the ground for profit. He did predict the future in that sense.
