I agree, just use the distro that clicks for you. I’ve been gaming on good ol’ Debian for a few years now. I tried most of the other recommended distros but always return to Debian.

Google Calendar handles it by simply leaving a sliver of the calendar’s color on the left side of the event bubble.

You could check out Spiral Linux for an “easier” installer. It has the option to use the Calamares installer from the live USB instead of Debian’s default. Also comes preloaded with back port repositories and, I think, Nvidia drivers.
