I’ve been using a Logitech Trackball for many years - Ergo M575. It can connect via a dongle or bluetooth. Lasts for months on a single AA battery.
The beauty of a Trackball is it works anywhere - arm of a chair, on my leg, any table without a mouse pad.
Edit: sorry, the dongle is USB-A.
For android, there is an app called “You Have Mail” that checks at a time interval you select.

Now, decide where you want the email to go.
