It’s not about having accurate dates, it’s about how unix time is used in programming. For some systems that reference unix time for essential calculations, that value rolling over and overflowing would cause catastrophic problems

I have over 20 gnome extensions and I haven’t seen an update break one in the past year I have been running Fedora. Even the Fedora 40-41 upgrade gave me no issues
Coke never has the water button on it though
The Oracle games also open with Link riding his horse back to Hyrule castle, which doesn’t really make sense as a follow-up to LA, but alas
I’m still upset with the official timeline because of how they put Link’s Awakening as happening before Oracle of Ages/Seasons, when it CLEARLY happens AFTER the Oracle games! Link’s Awakening opens with him on a boat in a storm in the middle of the ocean, and if you do the special linked ending of the Oracle games the story ends with Link getting on a boat in the ocean sailing towards a storm. Get it together Nintendo!
This product is not for you, individual consumer. This is for corporations who don’t want the overhead of managing individual PCs and everything that can go wrong with them, instead relying on virtual workspaces and roaming user profiles.
Mastodon has a pseudo-algorithm (sort of, unless there’s a better name) in the Search/Explore -> Posts view, which shows you posts that are trending on your instance. I wonder if Lemmy can come up with something similar based on your instance activity
I love how his last name is pronounced “to share a” and he did, in abundance
I think it’s easy to understand Mastodon, or any federated service, using a metaphor for a country or large place, where you can say “I want to move to X country” but then you have to actually pick a place IN that country to live, like a specific city or rural district. Once you decide on your instance, it’s really not that hard
This is why I’m sure they won’t stop with just the immigrants. When people are making money on running a machine they won’t want it to stop running
Things seem to have improved in the last 5 years, so maybe give it another shot. I’m on Fedora 40 with gnome and lots of extensions, and I’m constantly tinkering with it to make it look just right (for fun, not that I feel like I have to). Nothing catastrophic has happened yet!🤞
I love how people will complain about ads on YouTube and then go on to complain that PeerTube sucks because “who’s going to pay the hosting fees?” 🙄 For the record I like PeerTube but Android clients are ass right now

cmake debugger
I use this one in vscodium https://open-vsx.org/vscode/item?itemName=ms-vscode.cmake-tools
There are cmake debuggers where you can walk through exactly what it’s doing line by line
Trump would personally push the button to exterminate the Gazans. That’s what we’re up against. I suggest you put your energy into defeating him, then we put Kamala’s feet to the fire so she listens, as she has already signalled her intention to do so.
I watched about 3 episodes and I got so BORED that I started doing something else and forgot about the show entirely. Have no desire to finish it, and I love LOTR. It completely failed to grab me or make me care about any of the characters
I feel like people don’t give 3 enough credit for really going there with the tragic ending, fully committing to having everything go to shit to set up the original trilogy
I started watching Enterprise recently feeling the same way you do, and it’s honestly not that bad. The way they talk to each other and the overall vibe is VERY Next Gen, and it’s interesting how they’re 100ish years in the future while TOS is 200 years in the future, so their technology and even uniforms look almost exactly halfway between our tech and stuff and what we see in “traditional” Trek. The theme song though is definitely whack
