Have you tried reinstalling sddm and/or the theme? Had the same kind of error a few weeks ago were reinstalling did the trick for me

maybe go to the boot manager and explicitly boot from the usb drive? seems like your uefi has an entry for which no file was found because your install failed?

The desktop icon bug aside plasma 5 wasn’t buggy at all for me.

I am reusing my config from plasma 5 but switched back to x11, maybe this will help with some bugs.
