GitHub CI is great. too great. some devs have taken it upon their hands to attempt and wield an unwieldy power.
and unfortunately at my work it is my job to fix that unwieldy power
corporations can create good applications and tooling, they also create toxic dark pattern applications
open source devs can create air tight software or they can make some dingus word alternatives that just doesn’t work at all
I love open source but there are certainly some bad programs out there (for free though)
fedora as an os: 10/10 fedora as a name to a distro: 0/10
what game can’t be ran by a 5800x3D ? if anything I feel like graphic cards are the biggest bottle neck right now
coming up next: Intel fires 25% of their staff, CEO gets a quarterly bonus in the millions
suits don’t give a shit about anything except lining their pockets. part of the job is to say things that get public approval which is often mistaken as them actually caring for said things
there’s a brand I like that sells fast fashion (sue me) with 0 branding on any of their clothing items
I have like a dozen sweaters from them, they aren’t as cheap as they used to be but nothing is now
this is why I keep my config as minimal as possible and everything I do is up on a GitHub repo
inb4 just use nix, cloning a repo and putting the right files in the right spots is something that can be scripted with relative ease and nix is way overkill unless you’re using it for application deployments in money making incentives
I’ve used Windows since the late 90s and I’ve had infinite blue screen loops before. probably a hardware issue but it’s not like this fear is irrational.
me: systemd is not that bloated

okay. a weird thing about English is when people say “I’ll have a water” similar to “a grilled cheese”. why don’t they say the full thing? “a cup of water” or “a grilled cheese sandwich” same thing with coffee etc.
saying “a” using an unit really bothers me
it was on me to use my real name. at the same time for any online purchase I use my real name so I didn’t give it second thought.
I just thought it was very wrong of them to expose that to friends list. I pick a nickname for a reason, so people see my nickname.
another PSA if you have an Xbox account (even for PC) and have added anyone to friends they get to see your full name, state city. It is very cool to play games while also doxing yourself. thanks Microsoft
It’s hard to notice AI shitting up your code when you’re terrible at coding in the first place and think suggesting AI is a perfectly good choice.
I have this pet peeve of loud morning talkers. I don’t know how to explain it but I believe I don’t mind loud talkers in everyday life but I notice it right after waking up.
(Usage of the word talkers over speakers chosen to emphasize the human and not the electronic product)
Perl confirmed to be a carcinogen
Really? C++ uses the word stream to refer to abstractions that are buffers for reading/writing (depending permission).
How would files and streams differ in that case?
I guess you’re saying file handles can be pointing to memory instead of storage but I always think of the word “file” for data written to storage instead of ram. What makes it meaningless in the context of Linux?
