what the hell is the deal with people that walk around in public on speaker phone, with the phone held 2 inches from their head
Like they’re eating a pizza or they’re some reality TV episode?
It’s because they’re stupid. Just stupid.
Engineers and designers spend their days optimising the mic and speakers for people holding the phone LIKE A PHONE and these halfwits hold it like a slice of pizza, shouting over the loudspeaker that we all can hear but they can’t because they’re shouting.
Like an idiot.
Microsoft requires a proof of presence through Windows Hello.
… which requires a hotmail account or something, right?
So no. The only interaction I’ll have with this is coding cinc.sh to remove it.
Pointless – you need to beep through 4 doors to get to my unit. Hell, the elevator won’t even take you to the right floor unless you can get a fob from one of my neighbours so that button will work. Stairs are locked to get ONTO a floor, so they’re only good as exit stairs without another key that only firemen get, and you can’t get in by rappelling onto my patio either, Ethan Hunt.
My sister got the one where the scam says her son got into a car accident and - mumbling through ‘a broken jaw’ so thats why the voice is off - Officer Peterson needs to arrange bail, but off the books.
It was surprisingly effective, and my sister had a freakin’ heart attack as any parent would, and THOSE people can rot in a hell made of mealworms, ticks and black flies.
I’m torn between asking them to put up or shut up, and maybe just not confirming they got an address that still works.
React OS is awesome, and I need it to run stable on some metal.
And also play WoW, because I don’t trust linux to run whatever copy-protection crap is on there and not brick my account through no fault of its own.
I feel like most everyone
Beware the false consensus. Not all birds are seagulls, but get a plate of chips and that’s all you’ll see.
The meme equates ‘popular’ with ‘better’. There’s a very good reason we didn’t try to make an ubuntu back in 2002, and that reason - weak/bad validation of deployed package payload - is still true today.
If you care about build/release, precise validation is important to you. It’s one of the holy trinity of build/release.

You’re gonna want a cat-scan.
“Water to wine” was a metaphor for sneaking it into the party.
You can argue that those are not important to you, personally but I don’t think you can argue that they aren’t good reasons.
These sound like “value-add module purchased at or after time of sale” reasons.
In short, they’re features and not requirements.

Look: if the article can’t pluralize properly, I’m out.
Never-outdoor cats live 4 times as long and aren’t absolute killing machines for songbirds the entire time.
If you hate mosquitoes, get your friends to keep their cats at home.
In Canada it’s a half-day off, the polling places are many and varies, the waits are short and/because everything is hand-counted.
America uses a big-bang polling stations with machinery and demonstrations and gun nuts and intimidation of minorities and disenfranchisement , etc. It’s a whole thing.
Not getting time off is part of the cruelty toward the working class.
Not having to confirm your identity seems like it’s a jank but it’s part to services the elites don’t want to give the plebes, just hidden.
Lines are long, you May Not be generous with free water, in some places, counts take weeks on these fast computers and the legal challenges take months where ours is over in a night.
Safe to say it’s gonna be super-different from a UK election.
I’d look over the server install if the process had docs.
I looked at matrix but the server setup was janky – enamoured of the current mayfly shine tools, and when I saw mumble install cleanly on my tiny arm box it was a sea change. No longer have the tiny arm box but I still run mumble.
I’d be super happy if it and its polite codecs were brought into the fed but I haven’t been paying attention.
Yay mumble!
And I agree: it’s better. I think it’s faster and that, IMHO, is where the power is. It can look boring like a hammer as long as it’s intuitive … like a hammer.
That’s a false comparison. We have Lithium and NiMH batteries available off the shelf for common things that aren’t phones. The technology is available for a COTS phone battery replacement, as long as it matched a common form-factor.
And if phones can’t work around a common battery form-factor but yet all look like fucking candy-bars, then I call bullshit.
