No phones can run “LLMs” currently because by definition, large.
Some Android phones however can and does run smaller models locally. Gemini Nano runs on Pixel 8 and can run on Samsung phones.

It’s not a LLM, it’s a much smaller model (~3B) which is closer to what Microsoft labels as a SLM (Small Language Models, e.g. MS Phi-3 Mini).

It’s server-based so you need to be online to play. However you can pretty much play it solo without interacting with other players (which is how I generally play it, save the occasional events and challenges).
They’ve added significant amount of content post-launch which includes new locations, NPCs, missions etc so it’s not too bad, although I would say NPCs aren’t as well put together as other Fallout games.
I’m in the same boat but having a blast with FO76. I’m glad I waited since the rocky launch back in 2018 - while the game is still far from perfect, it’s a lot of fun to play and Bethesda did a good job fixing up the game.
To be brutally honest, many times I see Reddit / Lemmy proclaim, “Product X is dead because it did Y” - these claims are usually followed by surges in revenue / stock performance by said company and soon no one really talks much about it. Example - Netflix Password crackdown.
Yes, again I’m not saying that’s how it should be, I’m saying what is.
Enshittification won’t be a thing if actual user experience matters as much as we like it to in business.
lol I don’t. The earnings report is public.
Sure but Google Search has been crappy for many quarters.
I’m not saying thats how it should be, I’m just pointing out what is.
I get your point but from a business perspective Google is doing pretty well (see last quarterly earning and they announced dividends for the first time). It’s good to be a shareholder and from that perspective the CEO is doing a good job.
Time and time again markets have shown, within reason, poor user experience and anti-consumer policies do not negatively impact stock price.

You don’t need any subscriptions to use the API. It’s pay-as-you-go.
You don’t need a subscription. You just buy credits and it’s pay-as-you-go.
Source: me as that’s how I’m using it. No subscription fee / recurring payment needed.
100%. The truth is hard to swallow but I’ve already seen people displaced by AI tech in other professions. It’s no leap at all to think this could happen in the arts and film industry soon.
Also I don’t understand the notion of “humans can do x so AI can’t replace us”. Fact is AI only needs to do 20-30% of what humans can do to put a ton of us out of a job. And it’s a bit delusional to think one is immune just because they studied “cinematography”.
Yeah I really feel bad for her, nobody deserves this
Hey, you do you, but a great example of being in denial and exactly what people should not be doing. Everyone should be thinking about how to reposition themselves to ride this technological wave to success, and not turn a blind eye and be washed away like the parent poster above.
“Near future” and “foreseeable future” is constrained only by imagination and can happen sooner than you think.
A false sense of security is worse than no security at all.
When the AI workforce breaks through the arts and film industry, what makes you think you’re the one holding the keys and calling the shots on AI? Simply because you studied cinematography?
The point is the scale of the impact will likely be substantial and many potentially will be displaced. I would argue you should be studying this shift rigorously instead of being dismissive to give yourself the advantage.
Your perspective is very black or white. This tech can have a HUGE impact on human and our endeavors without needing to replace us.
Of course, but remember where the tech was a year ago? Where would it be in a year from now?
If you are a student you can get it half price. IMO it’s totally worth the one time fee.

You can also use Claude, Gemini and other GPT versions with it as well.
I do think it’s a useful distinction considering open models can be more than 100B+ nowdays and GPT4 is rumored to be 1.7T params. Plus this class of models are far more likely to be on-device.
