I did not use Twitter before. So I am not using Mastadon now. Because I don’t give a ploop. I liked forums. Lemmy-ish…adjacent spaces are like forums. I like that. I wasn’t aware that DMs are not private, so strange. But yes, many people have been harassed. When I was on Reddit, I turned off any means of communication not public. Here, I wouldn’t to be honest.

I’ve got a buddy who texts like this. It’s madness, but I love him and texts are short. I didn’t realize the ability to write like this long form. It’s just a style, but it makes it hard as hey for me to actually get my brain to not just error out and quit is all. This isn’t a blog for anyone though, it’s for you so you do you!

VS Codium is great! When I start a project, I always make a notes.txt to gather myself. As for P&P, the only way I have gotten myself to write on it is to get a small enough guy that I can keep it with me in one of my more common sitting spaces. Google is a creep, but Keep is simple. I’ve known a ton of people in the past who get a tape recorder and keep their notes on that. There’s a FOSS voice recorder on F-Droid called Fossify Voice Recorder. I am not sure if that’s what you want however.

The ultimate test!

My blackout curtains have white on the other side I am not sure much about the science behind them but they make it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. They’re quite dark on the inside. I got what I paid for. I don’t think all curtains are made equally.

This might sound funny, but I swear the four walls help. When I lived right off the water a dehumidifier helped with the high-humidity. Black-out curtains help keep the sun out, but they also keep the sun out if you catch me. Outside of that, I’ve heard ventilation. Don’t forget to drink water, keep your electrolytes solid and take care of yourself.

I have nothing to add in the mechanical department, as those keyboards drive me insane personally.

I just wanted to add some comments on finding a solid keyboard you love.

• Make sure the texture(s) are right for you. Space-age material is cool, but when you hate the feel of your fancy new keyboard, it’s not a fun type.
• Check the travel, everyone has different expectations and needs for the travel of their keyboard. The setup, and in turn the travel will honestly change your accuracy and speed when it comes to typing. You can adjust of course, but picking up a board you enjoy to type on is always better. For this, I had a sit and truly wondered what I like to press and how I like to type. I stuck a piece of paper and just pounded out on it. I saw how I held my hands, as well as where I liked to hang them and where I was hitting keys from.
• Create a list of contenders. Analyze if you feel comfortable with their price-to-value, features, form (see above).
• Do your research. I’ll watch videos and turn their sound off and try to watch people using the tech they’re pawning off. Asking folks helps weed out the noise machine, but I have also been burnt by trusting others over my gut. So I say a healthy mix of everything leads to a happy purchase.
• Try to purchase from a place you can return to, just in case all else fails.

I often think of purchases as something I am doing to help myself for an extended period of time. So that might also play into your purchase, and I would look to see what sort of support one could get in that department. Good luck, I hope you find your “dream-board!”
