Did you miss the fact that this TV has a camera that can count the number of viewers and can detect obstruction? Obstructing the ad screen broke the ToS and when they detect it, they can cancel your account and demand you too send the tv back or get charged $1000. It’s true. I ended up creating an ssh tunnel using autossh to a bastion server to escape the awfulness, but don’t tell the IT department I did that.
This particular type of interrupt exists because it would feel really bad if you were typing, and the text didn’t show up until several seconds later when the CPU felt like processing the (hopefully) buffered input.
Meanwhile me enjoying multiple seconds latency when typing some commands in ssh using putty inside a windows VM using RDP accessed via a shitty corporate VPN from the other side of the world, while using another VPN because corporate blocked all traffics from other countries…
If your getting a TP-Link router for the purpose of installing openwrt, be extra careful with selecting the router to buy and note their hardware revision. TP-Link has a habit of naming different routers with similar name, so if you’re not careful you might ended up buying an incompatible router.
For customer router, you can’t go wrong with Asus. It has thriving community firmware (AsusWRT-Merlin), which really open up the device without sacrificing usability and the original routers’ features. Asus also help with the project and the open source maintainers have full access to the routers original source code. IIRC flashing Merlin doesn’t void the router warranty.
The drawback is Asus routers are more expensive than TP-Link. But after owning several TP-Link routers (mainly because they’re cheap), I don’t recommend them and I think you should spend a bit more money to get an Asus router instead.
